Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I discover a maintenance or housekeeping problem at the rental?

Please notify the office immediately. Every effort will be made to correct any problem as quickly as possible.

Does every rental offer wifi access?

Many of our rentals offer wifi access. The properties that do offer wifi access are specifically marked.
If the property that you are interested in and/or renting does not offer wifi access, there is public access at various restaurants, convenience stores and the library. We will give you a list of these locations upon check-in.

Can I have a wedding at the rental property?

No. Our rental homes are available for residential use only. However, there are a few nearby ‘commercial’ lakefront locations that are offered as wedding venues. Please don’t hesitate to ask for the contact information. We’d love to help with you and your guests with nightly accommodations!

Can I bring a pet to a home that is not specified to be pet friendly?

No. Each of our property owners have previously determined whether or not they’d like to offer their home as being ‘pet friendly’. Unauthorized pets constitute a breach of the rental agreement and will result in a loss of access to the property as well as all monies paid.

Do I need to bring firewood for the fire pit and/or fireplace?

Yes. Occasionally, you will find leftover firewood at the rental property. If not, the local convenience stores offer bundled firewood available for purchase. NEVER leave fires unattended.  Please note, not all properties offer use of a fireplace or fire-pit. Please view the amenities section of the property’s web page to confirm availability..

What if the propane tank for the gas grill runs out during my visit?

Exchange (or fill) the tank at a nearby convenience store, etc. and provide us with the receipt. We will reimburse you for the cost of the exchange/fill via check.

What should I do if I am running late and will not arrive by closing time?

Don’t worry! If you do not arrive in time for check-in, we will leave a check-in packet, including keys and directions to your rental property, in our monitored drop box located outside of our office. If you know ahead of time that you will be late, please call to let us know!

Why do some properties have a larger number of sleeping areas than maximum occupancy?

All homes are strictly limited to the number of occupants indicated. Occupancy limitations are determined by Bedford County and are based on the size of the homes septic system. For the purpose of this regulation, anyone over the age of two years is considered an occupant. We have many properties are are located either side by side or are within a close vicinity of each other. If you’re searching for a large group, please let us know and we’ll be happy to help narrow down the best options based on the number of occupants, amenities & location needed.

How does my deposit work?

For a reservation made more the 90 days prior to your check-in date: a down payment of $200.00 is collected at the time of booking per week rented in order to secure your dates. The deposit collected is not an additional “security deposit” that is returned to you at the end of your stay, it is an amount applied toward the total balance of your reservation. We have replaced the “security deposit” with an Accidental Rental Damage Plan that will protect you in the event of any accidental damage that occurs on the property while you and your party are there. Exceptions may apply.
